On Friday after the final test we went with the class to the eslite Book store Zhong Xiaodun. It is a huge store that is open 24/7. People actually sit there on the floor and read books (just like in a library) and I had to watch out so I don't step on people's legs. I like the atmosphere with classical music in the background and books in mostly Chinese and English and subjects from psychology, fengshui, martial arts to comics.
So many books!
In the evening me and my sister went to Longshan Temple. The temple is quite old and there were many visitors. I'm not religious, but at home we celebrate Chinese holidays like the New year, lantern festival and the moon festival. We lightened some inscenses and could sense the smoky smell. It was a special sight to see people praying, both young and old people, with eyes closed and the lips forming their inner wish. It was like stepping into a time machine and real contrast to the big city life. We also walked through a market where they sold street food and Chinese souvenirs. In one place white mouses were kept in a cage and they barely got oxygen. They looked completely passed out. At the same place they had big snakes and I think they sold some snake stuff as medicine. It was forbidden to take pictures...
In the temple to light a bunch of inscense.
So, for dinner we took the MRT to Taipei Main Station and ate at Mosburger and ice cream afterwards in freshmade waffle at Coldstone. Mums! (as we say in Sweden.)
A mosburger is an Asian version of a hamburger with rice instead of buns and wok instead of hamburger.
Coffee ice cream with cookies and super crispy waffle.
